Sir — This refers to the response to an RTI query which revealed that 22 former Union Ministers still occupy ministerial-bungalows in New Delhi. Mr Dayanidhi Maran has been occupying one such bungalow since July 1, 2011, after losing his entitlement.
The list does not include earlier cases such as those of lalu Prasad and Buta Singh who have been granted special favours to retain the bungalows, that too at concessional rates.Political rulers, including those who are part of the Cabinet Committee on Accommodation, must not be allowed to bypass the apex court’s directives in respect to Government accommodation. Any relaxation of the directives should be cleared by the Supreme Court alone.
