Expect nothing

A Seshagiri Rao

Sir — This refers to the report that Pakistan’s Army chief visited Kabul to seek the chief Talibani leader’s extradition. Since it faced the tragedy of more than 130 children killed by its ‘unfriendly’ Taliban, the Pakistani Army chief rushed to Afghanistan, seeking the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan boss’s ‘extradition’. But when New Delhi had sought the handing over the perpetrators of the 26/11 ghastly killings, Islamabad did not oblige. It is evident that its war against ‘terrorism’ is a hoax. Pakistan will go after the inconvenient outfits but protect the pliant ones to use against India.

In a failed state where the Army and the notorious Inter-Services Intelligence work in tandem, with a scared judiciary and pusillanimous civilian establishment in place, terrorists like Hafiz Saeed and lakhvi will never be brought to  justice.

So, if anyone believes that after the Peshawar carnage, Pakistan will change its attitude and root out terrorism from its soil, then that person is living in a fool’s paradise.
