This refers to the report, “12 l houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to be built by 2018 end” (May 23). The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is undoubtedly a good scheme towards providing shelter to the needy. However, if we glance at the political past of India, many such schemes aimed at the betterment of people were announced, but most of them fizzled out without giving due results.
In case the PMAY fails to take off, it would shatter the aspirations of many people. In order to make the PMAY successful, the Government needs to have a clear blueprint in mind about the said scheme.
