End confrontation

Madhu Agrawal

Sir — This refers to a Delhi High Court verdict saying the Anti-Corruption Branch of the Delhi Government is empowered to look into corruption cases involving Delhi Police. The timely verdict should end all confrontations regarding governance of the semi-State, where a democratically-elected Government has been acknowledged by the court to be the deciding authority in at least this matter. The court has rightly said that the lt Governor of Delhi must act on the advice of the Council of Ministers. Also, common sense rules that a democratically-elected regime should not be treated as a show-piece.
