Sir — This refers to the report, “Opp parties rap UPA for food ‘ordinance’” (July 5).
It is a fact that the incompetent UPA Government’s food security Bill will turn ‘bread-makers into beggars’. Instead of stemming the rot in the system, boosting agro-production, providing incentives to the farm/industry sector and creating employment opportunities, the UPA is resorting to an easy way to gain political advantage. Unfortunately, the intent seems to be to kill enterprise and make the people, at least the marginalised segment, dependent on doles.
The ruling regime seems to have forgotten the basics of economy — generate money to help the weaker sections of the society to develop and stand on their own. The UPA Government has crippled the industrial, agricultural, manufacturing, business growth by its acute policy paralysis. Given the corrupt public distribution system, is there any guarantee that the food grains will actually reach the poor and needy and not be siphoned off by corrupt middlemenIJ The food security Bill will only help the black market to thrive.
