DMK's hypocrisy

Padmini Raghavendra
Sir —The recent developments in Tamil Nadu, with politicians crying foul over Mr Narendra Modi inviting the Sri lankan President for his swearing-in ceremony, were a political stunt.
Instead of creating further hurdles in the welfare of Tamils in Sri lanka, Tamil Nadu’s leaders should have welcomed Mr Mahinda Rajapaksa in New Delhi and spoken to him on the need to improve the conditions of Tamils in Sri lanka.
DMK supremo M Karunanidhi, who had objected to Mr Rajapaksa’s visit, had had no problem when his daughter Kanimozhi and party member TR Baalu met Mr Rajapaksa when an all-party MPs’ delegation visited Sri lanka’s Northern Province after the civil war had ended.
