Disturbing case

J Akshobhya

Sir — The National Commission for Women seems to be inundated with high-profile cases.

Close on the heels of the sexual harassment charges that a former law intern levelled against a former Supreme Court judge, which the NCW has to look into, the commission may have to now probe the sexual assault by Mr Tarun Tejpal, who has stepped aside as the editor of Tehelka.

Mr Tejpal must be held accountable for his abominable deed. He has outraged the modesty of a girl young enough to be his daughter. We read such lurid stories in books, but it  seems to have become the routine for Indian men of late. Wasn’t Mr Tejpal aware, while he abused the victim, that what he was doing is a crimeIJ All these years he has been evaluating others’ misdeeds. Now he must face the music.
