Different facets

Sir — This refers to the article, “A linguistic, cultural outlook to English” (March 30) by Avatans Kumar. I wonder if British English exists. English, spoken by a londoner, is different from that spoken by a person from Yorkshire. In fact, Yorkshire men speak differently as that from their neighbouring county lancashire.

Similarly, English, as spoken by a person from Boston, is different from that spoken by one from Texas. So is the case with Indians from different States/areas of the country. In fact, Indians have better knowledge of grammar and spelling than the British.
