Sir — First, the Chinese Government banned Ramzan fasts. Now it has put a ban on any person sporting a beard or on burqa-clad women travelling by Government buses in the Muslim-dominated Province of Xinjiang. Forget about loud protests, not even a whimper has been heard in this regard from the Indian left, the secular media or the Indian Muslim clergy.
