Sir —The Supreme Court’s verdict on homosexuality has delivered a blow to the activists who are concerned with the rights of an individual and not with the long-term impact such an individual right can have on the society. Homosexuality is not the norm and is against natural biological laws. Homosexuality was considered a reason for the increase in the cases of AIDS, but it is now touted as a solution. The demographic distortion due to homosexual pairs will be felt in the long run. The Supreme Court has, therefore, done the appropriate thing by upholding the provisions of Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code in criminalising same-sex intercourse.
