Danger to India?

M Ratan

Sir — This refers to the report, “War of words between BJP, Owaisi intensifies” (June 28). Hyderabad, now the capital of Telangana, has a pre-Partition history of Muslim fanaticism asserting against Indian nationalism. Those with a long memory cannot forget how the Nizam, with the help of militant Razakars, wanted to join Pakistan regardless of the fact that his subjects were largely Hindus and his territory was not next door to proposed Pakistani areas. Thanks to Sardar Patel’s uncompromising attitude, Hyderabad joined India.

It is known that a ‘neo-Jinnah’ in the form of Asaduddin Owaisi, chief of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), has emerged to promote Islamic bigotry and radicalism while hypocritically swearing by secularism.

Examine his speeches and statements, his whole emphasis is on  Indian Muslims’ grievances and separatism. There is no question of the Muslim community joining the mainstream.

like Jinnah, Owaisi is British educated; hence, like the architect of the two-nation theory and Pakistan, Asaduddin is somewhat dangerous to the present-day unity and stability of India.
