Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Food for more thought” (June 15).
Procuring grains and allowing them to rot and go waste while millions across the country go to sleep without even one square meal — how can this be a policyIJ It is a fact that there is no proper mechanism in place to check on how much food grain is lost to rodents and wasted on account of poor storage facilities, and through shoddy distribution.
Indeed, the loss of food grain that has gone waste in recent times, runs into crores of rupees. It is a crying shame that in this country, the poor and needy go hungry while the rodents have a perennial feast. Unfortunately, no disaster can dislodge the apathetic Congress-led UPA Government — all thanks to the success of vote-bank politics.
