Cricketers must speak out against the rot

S Prabhakar

MS Dhoni is considered to be one of the most intelligent and astute captains of our time, but he still pretends to be ignorant in his assessment and allegedly made a false deposition before a probe panel that Mr N Srinivasan's son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan was only a cricket enthusiast and not involved in the team’s management.

Mr Meiyappan was seen taking active part in all the auctions. He travelled with Mr Dhoni and team mates in the same bus, and gave them company in the dug-out. Can Mr Dhoni, by any stretch of imagination, suggest that any other cricket enthusiast would have been allowed to do all thisIJ But why only blame Mr DhoniIJ I have not heard a single adverse comment against Mr Srinivasan from Mr Sunil Gavaskar or Mr Ravi Shastri, or even Mr Sourav Ganguly, Mr Rahul Dravid, Mr Sachin Tendulkar, and the now mellowed Mr Kapil Dev — all of whom do not hesitate to give their opinion otherwise.
