Sir — The Indian cricket team has done exceptionally well to beat Australia in the just-concluded Test series. This is India’s seventh consecutive Test series victory since August 2015, which is admirable.
The fine performance of the Indian team came with the help of some exceptional performances from the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Cheteshwar Pujara, Kl Rahul, Umesh Yadav, Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav, among others.
However, there were some exceptional performances from the Australian side too. Steve Smith played gracefully and hit three centuries in the series, while Australian spinner Nathan lyon performed exceedingly well.
But, this Test series was marked by a few barbs, exchanged between Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and Smith. Nonetheless, once Smith apologised, Kohli should not have taken the issue further. Kohli is a fine player but must learn to exercise restraint.
