Sir — This refers to the report, “EC must give free hand to EVM hackers: AAP” (May 21). The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) reacts to every political issue as if it is the last group of innocents left on earth. The recent challenge to hack electronic voting machines (EVMs) dismissed by the Election Commission, got reactions from AAP in its trademark manner.
If the challenge proposed by the Election Commission is carried out smoothly, it would be a good opportunity to expose nitpickers. It is also irresponsible of the AAP when it said that its massive win in the Assembly election of 2015 was a mandate of the people, whereas it has attributed the recent loss in Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections to ‘faulty’ EVMs. The attempt of AAP to subvert the process of hacking shows its escapist tendencies, as in their hearts, its leaders too know, that it is the people who matter.
