Sir — This refers to the comments made by senior Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar regarding incoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is deplorable that a man in public life should compare an incoming Prime Minister, voted by popular mandate in a democratic system, to the rise of Nazism and Hitler in the 1930s. Such language is not only deeply offensive but also severely condemnable.
The least one can expect from a party that has been drubbed in the election (with Mr Aiyar losing his own seat), is to respect the public’s decisive mandate and work towards policies that ensure a stronger India. The broadsides show an existential crisis for the so-called elite of Delhi Durbar that has been rudely shocked by a man who has shaken the existing order.
