Corporate-friendly Budget

Shalini Gerald

Sir — This refers to the editorial, “For A Healthy India” (February 2). People belonging to the middle income group and the salaried class are disappointed with the BJP Government’s Budget. By reducing the corporate tax and firmly denying increase in the threshold exemption limit of income tax, as expected by the salaried class, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has trumpeted his party’s leanings towards corporates and has sent a clear message that welfare of corporate is the priority for the Government.

Undoubtedly, this Budget is a precursor to the summary defeat of the BJP Government in the 2019 General Election unless it course corrects now.
