Congress leaders think they are above the law

M Ratan

This refers to the report, “Parliament incurs Sonia's wrath” (December 9). The Congress's latest act of paralysing Parliament reflects its leadership's contemptuous disregard for peaceful, civilised debate, on the issue of court summons to Ms Sonia Gandhi and Mr Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case. Ms Gandhi's remark that she is Indira Gandhi's daughter-in-law and is not afraid of anyone, is irrelevant and undignified. Since this statement was made in the context of the mother-son duo's allegedly dubious action on the defunct National Herald's real estate assets, what is Ms Gandhi seeking to achieveIJ To tell the judiciary that she and her son are above the lawIJ

No wonder, large sections of Indians have come to believe that the grand old party of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and other stalwarts is dead. In its place, we have a defeated, disruptive, negative party  led by puny and self-serving individuals and their cheer-leaders.
