Congress dilemma

Sagar Singh

This refers to the editorial, “Of leadership failures” (March 29). The editorial has rightly pointed out that, instead of having a tête-à-tête with the sedition-charged Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union president Kanhaiya Kumar, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi should have tackled the tumultuous revolt in the Uttarakhand unit of his party.

The Congress should have taken suitable action so as to not repeat the Arunachal Pradesh episode. Instead of setting its own house in order, the party was busy blaming the Modi Government by levelling unsubstantiated charges, such as ‘murder of democracy’ and ‘horse-trading’. The Congress high command must introspect on the situation in Uttarakhand, which may arise in other Congress-ruled States in the coming months.
