Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Flash-flood of problems” (June 19). Uttarakhand is facing a tough time due to a natural calamity and the devastation thereof.
The plight of the people who have lost their near and dear ones can be understood. All the State-level leaders should come on a common platform to help the affected people. At this time there should be no politics on any issue related to disaster management. The calamity has not necessarily revealed that the Government’s preparations are insufficient or that disaster management has completely failed in Uttarakhand.
The relief fund which will start pouring in should be utilised properly and effectively. All the Ministers including the Chief Minister should visit the affected areas and keep an eye on the proper distribution of funds.
