Civic poll message: The Congress is in a mess

Ganapathi Bhat

This refers to the editorial, “Message in the victory” (August 27). The unambiguous indication from the Bangalore civic election is that the popularity of the BJP among the people remains intact, despite frustrated attempts by the opposition parties to manufacture scandals and sow seeds of suspicion in the minds of the people. The common man has seen a perceptible change in the style of governance in the country over the last 15 months. Transparency and accountability in the Government's functioning have infused a sense of confidence among the people.

The party's effective planning and selection of candidates have also been reflected in the results of the recent civic elections. The BJP had performed exceptionally well in the 2014 general election in Karnataka. The party should now aim to refurbish the image of Bangalore. The writing on the wall for the Congress is clear: It is losing grip over its traditional bastions. It has serious introspection to do.
