Sir — This refers to the report, “BJP’s Vijayutsav across country on March 18” (March 17). In the lead up to the election in Uttar Pradesh, both Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and outgoing Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, elevated the ‘failure’ of the BJP to name a chief ministerial candidate for Uttar Pradesh to ridiculous heights and also indulged in cheap sarcasm and dire predictions of a total loss owing to this factor.
In the event, this had absolutely no significance and the BJP swamped all opposition. All non-BJP political parties utterly failed to see that the BJP does not need to project a chief ministerial nominee in advance in any State. All that is needed is for the Prime Minister to campaign across the State and the votes pour in.
