Sir — People were of the view that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s focus was on vikas (development) and that he would eschew faith and religion while leaving the rabble-rousing to minions. But no, he has been deliberately taking venomous digs and taunting the minorities. It was disgusting to view or even read his “graveyard-cremation ground” and “Ramzan-Diwali” campaign pitch in Uttar Pradesh.
The rules of decorum in high office have certainly changed ever since he became the Prime Minister of this country. He must not forget that caste rigidity had slackened in favour of the BJP in 2014 because the people were bought into his vikas mantra. People now expect the Prime Minister to unerringly focus on that aspect alone.
