Letter to the Editor

Catch-22 situation?

PN Saxena

Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Sustain the Baloch thrust” (September 26). Will it be alright to say that Pakistan is in a Catch-22 situationIJ If Pakistan defends its terrorist onslaught on Kashmir, it will not be able to keep crushing the Baloch people in it’s backyard.

On the other hand, if it justifies its atrocities and human right violation in Balochistan, it will lose credibility in Kashmir. Both ways, Pakistan will lose. The editorial has rightly said that the Baloch issue has triggered a series of developments, both in India and abroad.

First, Pakistan is getting isolated on terrorism on the international forum. Second, Pakistan’s brutalities in Balochistan are being exposed before many countries in Europe and elsewhere. Third, the Middle Kingdom is now in an embarrassing position.

It is unable to decide if it should go with the Gwadar port project or not. Chinese trade prospects will suffer due to Beijing’s association with a terrorist state like Pakistan.
