Sir — This refers to the news report, “Modi baiters pounce ‘puppy’, rest laud ‘Hindu nationalist’” (July 13). This is, indeed, a most damning example of Modi bashers’ who are capable of stooping to any level to distort to malign the Gujarat Chief Minister.
One can dismiss as predictable the reactions of Mr Narendra Modi’s usual political opponents — the Congress, the left, Janata Dal (United) and the likes of Mr Kamal Farooqi of Samajwadi Party — but what is disgusting was the viciousness of a senior anchor of a leading English television news channel while questioning his panelists on the “puppy” remark.
BJP spokesperson Meenakshi lekhi did well to firmly reject the anchor’s malicious insinuation and asked how any right thinking person could not see Mr Modi’s “puppy” reference in proper perspective. As for the Gujarat violence of 2002, the apex court and its Special Investigation Team that investigated the tragedy gave the Chief Minister a clean chit. Why then this relentless campaign of calumnyIJ
