Call JD(U) bluff

MC Joshi

Sir — In the ongoing slanging match between BJP and JD(U) leaders over the most ‘ideal, secular and acceptable’ NDA candidate for the country’s top job, one would like to point out that it is not just the BJP cadre but also a majority of the people of this country that believes Mr Narendra Modi is best suited to govern the nation post-2014 election.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his JD(U) have resorted to a lot of mud-slinging against Mr Modi, without actually having the courage to name him.
If the JD(U) remains adamant, the BJP should call the JD(U)’s bluff and contest the election under Mr Modi’s leadership. The fact that in the 2009 general election the JD(U) contested 55 seats and won only 20, and that too only in Bihar, amply reveals where the party stands on the national stage. Mr Modi may not perform a miracle, but he will certainly bring the best possible poll outcome for the BJP.
