The third-time victory of the BJP in the Gujarat Assembly election under Mr Narendra Modi's leadership and his growing nationwide popularity after he was declared the party's prime ministerial nominee, have rattled the ‘secular' parties. In their hostility towards Mr Modi, they keep spewing venom and carrying a virulent campaign of hatred and calumny to incite Muslims.
But these parties do not utter a word on the burning alive at the Godhra railway station of innocent Hindu pilgrims who were returning from Ayodhya. Secularists never utter a word against communal crimes that occur in States under their rule, like Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam or Maharashtra. They want to pamper their minority vote-banks by remaining silent. The Patna incident was a well-planned strategy to terrorise and discourage supporters of Mr Modi from gathering at his rally in huge numbers. The meeting is certain to fetch an unprecedented victory for the BJP in the lok Sabha election.
