Sir — This refers to the article, “News media’s changing shades and stripes” (January 22) by Gautam Mukherjee. The left-leaning media used to question every action of the BJP when the party was the Opposition, and it is doing so when the BJP is leading the Government. The media doesn’t even support the BJP’s right to take its decisions.
The media questioned the BJP for not declaring a chief ministerial candidate in Delhi. After Ms Kiran Bedi was declared the face of the BJP’s Delhi campaign, it raised questions about other senior leaders in the party. On Ms Bedi declining to join Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal on his publicity stunt, most news anchors indicted the BJP for running away from a public debate. The Congress also jumped into the fray saying that it was ready for a debate.
The Aam Aadmi Party and news anchors say that a debate will let people know Ms Bedi’s plans for Delhi. But it is not just her plans but the party’s agenda too which will be implemented if the BJP is voted to power.
