This refers to the news report, “BSP axes MP for praising NaMo” (July 18).
The Bahujan Samaj Party Member of Parliament from Hamirpur, Vijay Bahadur Singh, paid the price for lavishing praise on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, and was expelled from the party, purportedly for “anti-party” activities, for six years with immediate effect.
While it is still a matter of speculation on whether or not Mr Singh will hitch his wagon to the BJP, a word of caution for the BJP: Be circumspect about prospective allies and friends, and how they will contribute to the party's progress. This distinction is important when choosing friends and allies. Toxic people will drain your energy; the nurturing ones will encourage growth with support and confidence. The great lessons of leadership need to be practised at a personal level every day. The BJP's mantra today should be: Reach out, touch someone to make a difference, and surround yourself with quality people.
