Sir — Given that BJP patriarch lK Advani’s writ no longer runs in the BJP, his declaration of Mr Yashwant Sinha as the BJP’s prospective chief ministerial candidate in Jharkhand comes as a big surprise. Is Mr Advani unaware that such decisions cannot be taken unilaterallyIJ If it is true that Mr Sinha led a demonstration against power-cuts in Jharkhand, thereby, inciting violence against a Jharkhand State Electricity Board official, then that disqualifies him from occupying a high Government position.
Mr Sinha opted not to contest the lok Sabha poll after the RSS signalled that those over 70 should step back from active politics and mentor their juniors.
