Sir — This refers to the article, “Both intent and action had dubious purpose” (December 1) by Sandhya Jain. This is by far the best exposition of the Islamic State tangle that I have ever read.
Many are aware of the fact that a big game with the IS is on, but are confused on the nature of the game. I agree with the writer’s view that the downing of a Russian Su-24 warplane and the associated damage will be a watershed event.
