Sir — This refers to the editorial, “The young arrive in style” (November 11). The youth brigade of Indian cricket has been performing consistently well over the years, particularly in the 50-over and T-20 formats.
Thanks to its scintillating performances, the team ranks at or near the top in all the formats of the game. The emergence of batting stars like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara and Shikhar Dhawan, is an apt replacement of greats such as Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag. Selectors will need to show some restraint in the event of one odd failed performance by this young group.
Meanwhile, an improvement in the bowling department, with the intervention of seniors in and outside the team, can be a shot in the arm for our bowling attack.
