Sir — This refers to the operation carried out by the Indian Army in Myanmar to neutralise Naga insurgents. It is advisable for the Government to refrain from evoking jingoism on sensitive issues relating to national security so as to score brownie points on the domestic front. This is bad for diplomacy. Such surgical operations, involving the sovereignty of a friendly state, should be disclosed to the public in a calibrated manner. One must not put the other friendly nation, that has allowed for such a strike to take place on its territory, in a humiliating posture. This will only risk future cooperation.
