Sir — This refers to the Indian cricket team’s resounding victory over Pakistan in a World Cup match on Sunday. The Indian team’s comprehensive win has brightened its prospects. It has given the team a new impetus and a large dose of confidence, which was much needed, given the recent below-par performances of the men in blue.
But Indian fans need not go overboard in celebrating this victory. India plays South Africa next in the World Cup. It’s a team India has never beaten in the tournament in the three matches that both have contested. Team India should guard against complacency. It is no use thinking of the quarter-finals or the semi-finals now. The team must heed Sachin Tendulkar’s advice of taking each match as it comes.
