Amend law

Sravana Ramachandran

Sir — This refers to the report, “Most brutal rapist of Nirbhaya let loose” (December 21). The release of the juvenile, accused in the infamous Nirbhaya rape case, will send a wrong message to the society.

Since the existing law does not impose stringent punishment against juvenile rapists, the  juveniles will not fear committing such acts. There is a need to amend the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2000.
