Sir — There are tough-talkers but no action-takers against the way Pakistan has been exporting terror to India. The President has talked tough on Pakistan. He has favoured talks only after Pakistan dismantles terrorist camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Opposition parties too are saying the same. The people and large sections of the media are in agreement. But all this is of little use unless the authorities at the helm of affairs make up their minds to act.
If the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government had merely talked tough and not acted, India would have lost the Kargil war. Talks are useful only to a certain extent, but when talks do not yield results, actions alone matter. Experience shows that whenever India and Pakistan have come forward to initiate a dialogue, Pakistan has created problems along the line of Control to derail the process of dialogue. But we have been unable to pressure that country.
On its part, Islamabad has not mustered the courage to dismantle the terrorist camps operating on its soil, even though Pakistan too is a victim of terror. Islamabad comes forward to talk but smiles when our soldiers are killed by its Army and its Army-backed militants. India should realise Pakistan’s duplicity and not fall in the trap of meaningless dialogue.
