AAP's over-ambition

M Ratan
Sir — This refers to the article, “Arvind Kejriwal’s eyes set on 7, RCR” (January 10) by Kalyani Shankar. Analysing the Aam Aadmi Party’s decision to go national by contesting the 2014 general election, in the wake of its unprecedented victory in the Delhi Assembly, the writer has pointed out that the AAP is “not able to cope with its new status...There is so much confusion among the leaders...talking in different voices” on several issues, such as quotas for lower castes and women, Kashmir and khap panchayats in Haryana.
So far, the AAP has been a one-issue party, and this will not work at the national stage. The party has to spell out its vision on economic and foreign policies, position on secularism etc.
The AAP has been given a chance to rule Delhi. It should focus on that and try to give good governance and a corruption-free administration, without grandstanding. For now, its lofty national ambitions are misplaced.
