China's hypocrisy

MC Joshi

Sir — last week, China’s Ambassador to India, luo Zhaohui said, “We should turn the old page and start a new chapter with the same pace and direction...China is the largest trading partner of India. We have made a lot of progress at the bilateral level, as well as in international and regional affairs.”

The story of great betrayal of India’s trust by the Chinese began with the Chinese invasion in the North-East in 1962, which left no scope for New Delhi to be carefree towards Beijing. It is not the good words of the Chinese Ambassador but the issues like the Indian territory in illegal possession of the Chinese in the Aksai Chin area of Jammu & Kashmir, stapled visas issued by the Chinese to the residents of Arunachal Pradesh, Chinese activities in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Beijing’s acting against India’s interests in the United Nations and other international forums which are important for New Delhi.
