Sir — This refers to the editorial, “The Baba phenomenon” (August 30). Social, economic and educational causes are the reasons why corrupt babas thrive. Importantly, it is the blind faith in them that makes them thrive. Shockingly, even highly educated and economically affluent people fall a prey to their evil designs. Most of us are riddled with a mindset that in order to achieve success in life, one must have a guru.
There’s no harm with that but an enlightened and highly academic personality may serve a better purpose. A cautious belief and a safe walk in life is the need of the hour.
