Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Not fat; lean and mean” (June 7). In an area of general darkness, the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) is doing a commendable job. The recent launch of GSlV-Mark III proves the fact that in terms of space technology, India is on par with any other developed nation.
Now, India will become an important player in the multi-billion-dollar global satellite launch market. Simultaneously, it will also become a cost-effective and reliable partner for heavy satellite launches which can generate additional revenue for Isro.
It is heartening that our country is now competing with other international players for a greater share of the launch market, and is known for its low-cost space programme. The superior launch capability also builds up India’s potential to undertake deep space exploration more seriously.
