This refers to the report, “SC wants Ayodhya verdict via parleys” (March 22). The Supreme Court’s suggestion for an out-of-court settlement of the Ayodhya dispute over Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid issue is welcome. But the question is: Can the issue be settled amicablyIJ It appears that there can be a communal flash point between the Hindus and the Muslims.
Negotiation will surely work if both sides comply. But after the failure of nine attempts hitherto, it seems that it will be a herculean task. It’s high time that the apex court gives a concrete verdict which everyone will have to accept.
