Sir — This refers to the editorial, “The feel-great Budget” (February 2). Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has presented a fair Budget, though the overriding content was inevitable as the Government had to also fashion a broad appeal to the electorate on the threshold of elections to five State Assemblies.
But more importantly, given the cataclysmic events unfolding from the White House, no one has a clue as to land mines for economies around the globe. A brave Budget under such uncertainties could but be a rarity. The Finance Minister, wary of the treading unfamiliar paths or tabling bad news and yet skirting populism, cheered the markets.
