Letter to the Editor

Irresponsible leader

M Ratan

Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Kejriwal’s callous remark” (January 26). Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s display of contemptuous arrogance towards important constitutional bodies like the Election Commission and the Prime Minister’s Office, is condemnable.

This raises questions about this former Indian Revenue Service officer’s suitability to hold a responsible post of a head of Government in the Union Territory of the capital city of Delhi.

Kejriwal occupied this chair for 49 days for his Aam Aadmi Party’s first administration and suddenly quit it. In his second innings, for nearly two years, his track record has been disgusting. He is more interested in expanding his party’s footprints in other States like in Punjab and Goa, where elections are round the corner, rather than providing good governance to the people of Delhi who gave him an overwhelming mandate.

It is impossible to pin him down; he is wayward, undignified and flippant. In fact, he is day-dreaming for India’s prime ministership;  he seems indifferent to using the historic opportunity of ruling Delhi, giving it a model of governance. His latest despicable behaviour vis-à-vis the Election Commission only confirms his juvenile tendencies, making him unfit for any high constitutional office.
