Sir — This refers to the article, “Trumping the Paris agreement” (November 17) by Kota Sriraj. The Paris climate agreement, which has been endorsed by as many as 190 countries, is indeed a step in the right direction. It would be interesting to see what the newly elected US President, Donald Trump, does to curb emissions.
If Trump really decides to move out of the agreement, it will be a huge disappointment not only for the US, which has taken huge strides towards a cleaner energy regime, but also for other developing countries who have signed this agreement for a better and cleaner tomorrow. The US must show the way to the world by leading from the front rather than finding ways to avoid this historic agreement.
