Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Clear OROP confusion” (November 7). Since the one-rank-one-pension controversy had hardly been an ‘issue’ for either the Congress or the Aam Aadmi Party, there was a strong element of the callous and hypocritical in their seeking, to make political capital of the suicide of ex-serviceman Ram Kishan Grewal.
Meanwhile, it surely was ‘Rahul’s day out’, for he enjoyed the exposure, dominated the air-waves, and created much embarrassment for the police personnel who were unable to respond to his queries and charges. Not only was the Congress scion seen in a rare forceful role, the police action saw other opposition units uniting.
Whether the Congress and Rahul Gandhi will be able to sustain the campaign remains to be seen, but there can be no two opinions that the image of Modi sarkar has taken a battering. Yet, does that add up to the soldier getting his rightful dueIJ
