Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Raging race violence” (July 11). It has been ages since the end of slavery and segregation in the US, but its vestigial traces were spotted in the killings of two black men and then the resultant killings of police officers which snowballed into national resentment. This has shocked the entire world. This violence seems to be flying in the face of the US’s image as a liberal and tolerant nation, the multi-cultural approach of which welcomes all with open arms and provides them with opportunities of employment and better life.
