In a democracy, should the portfolio of a Minister really matterIJ Almost all media reactions to the ministerial re-shuffle were typically the same: “HRD Minister Smriti Irani is shunted to textiles Ministry; Venkaiah Naidu’s wings clipped by allocating parliamentary affairs to Ananta Kumar; Sadananda Gowda is almost shown the door by making him in charge of programme implementation” and so on.
Is the Finance Ministry more important than say textiles or programme implementationIJ What should matter is how efficiently that Minister has performed, for the welfare of the people.
