Sir — The reported move of the Andhra Pradesh Government to ban non-Hindu tenant farmers from cultivating temple lands prima facie impairs the broad agricultural interest of the nation. Agriculture is the backbone of our economy and, therefore, the bizarre ban may create adverse impacts across the country, particularly in Andhra Pradesh. linking religion with farming is farcical, besides it will worsen the existing religious harmony between Hindus and other religions. Our unbiased intelligentsia/politicos/Hindu leaders must introspect and insist for an amicable policy in this issue. Agriculture is to be treated as a noble occupation of the people beyond politics and religion for the comprehensive development of the country.
