It is heartening that the Government has at last announced the one-rank-one-pension scheme for military veterans. About 80 per cent of the defence personnel, who work in junior positions, fight from the front lines and retire after 15 to 20 years of service, will get the benefits. But OROP will open the Pandora’s box. The paramilitary forces have now demanded OROP and other state employees will follow suit.
