Meaningless talks

NR Ramachandran

The invitation extended by Pakistani High Commissioner Abdul Basit to Kashmiri separatist leaders to meet Pakistan National Security Advisor Sartaj Aziz during the latter’s scheduled visit to New Delhi is an atrocious act. This should not be accepted. The separatists will meet Mr Aziz on Indian soil, and this adds insult to  injury.

India should call off the National Security Advisor-level talks for the moment. Also, Pakistan has not yet given up on its acts of terrorism nor has it stopped the ceasefire violations. Restoring peace in the region sounds meaningless. It is best for the BJP-led regime to call off the talks so that the separatists do not get an upper hand.
